"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

I'm struggling with this quote. I don't agree.
ok talk it out with me
OK, YOU ASKED!
I see this as humanistic propaganda that the church has bought into. Notice there was no reference to the Scriptures. Where does she base her proposition of what our greatest fear is? Where does she base the idea that we are all "special?" That is the humanist thought on man.
The Scriptural concept of man is that I reject God, I am foolish, I am immoral, I am depraved, and I cannot please God in my own strength. That is who I am without Christ.
In Christ I am: made complete and
blessed with every SPIRITUAL blessing which means: I am holy, I am blameless, I am a child of God, I am redeemed, I am sealed, and I am His workmanship.
Who I am without Christ is taken from Romans 1. Who I am in Christ is taken from Ephesians 1, 2.
2 Peter also tells me that I have the very nature of Christ, and that I don't have to sin again. (NOt that I'm not a sinner, but, I don't have to sin AGAIN)
What she is saying makes people feel good. What I am saying gives them responsibility.
YOU ASKED!
Tell me what you think!
So what do you think?
